If we haven’t met yet, I’d love to introduce myself. I’m Tai, a master cosmetologist with 17 years of experience, specializing in custom color, precision cuts and organic product knowledge. I’m also a semi-retired color chemistry educator and the owner of Art Works Salon & Day Spa, where I work behind the chair full-time.

Do you have a ton of natural white or silver around your face? Do you color your roots every few weeks to cover it?
Choosing a color that contrasts with your regrowth as little as possible is always going to be less maintenance.
For this client- we weave blonde into her face frame- where she is naturally white. We then cover the rest of her “salt and pepper” natural with a light brown. This gives her a soft grow out, without going all over blonde! Plus, a little bit of spunk. 🤗

Blonde is a journey, not a one-stop flight to platinum (Especially if you have been coloring your hair dark and have baby fine hair)
Yes... many people will say that they…
“have a hairstylist, or know a hairstylist who is able to take black box dye and turn in platinum in one day and all the hair was silkier and healthier than ever.” That is not a reality for most clients. It is all dependent on the current health of the hair, color history, hair texture, budget, and time allotted for the appointment. We always want to do our best to keep our clients’ hair healthy and taking our time (when necessary).
We always warn our clients... it’s going to take 4-7 appointments & you will have Warmth, contrast, and depth along the way. It’s a part of the process, if we want to play it safe with your hair & keep ALL your length.

It may seem like fixing this issue is as simple as slapping one color all over- but it is not…
1️⃣ Use a color “remover” (which rarely actually removes dark color) to help loosen & dispel color molecules to create more room in the hair for the next step.
2️⃣ Create multiple formulas to apply over each of the different tones, moving through the hair in small sections to select where to paint each formula as you go.
3️⃣ Reconstruct. Without reconstructing, the color molecules will not attach themselves as well, creating more of a likelihood of an uneven fade because of the starting point.
